For North Port

Welcome to fornorthport.com, a website that discusses the positive attributes of the city of North Port, Florida from a long term residents perspective.

This photo shows my backyard, which looks out over Deer Prairie Creek, a ten thousand acre preserve. With acreage measuring in the tens of thousands, North Port is a environmental paradise that has something for everyone.

I have volunteered for over two decades to promote the concept that North Port residents should define our cities future and not the developers. With that in mind I founded Vision North Port, a citizen based group that wrote a citizens master plan in 2009. We distributed over 10,000 copies. The city elected to not pursue these opportunities.

I also founded the North Port Economic Development Corporation, a non profit 501C corporation, made up of senior executives from businesses, government leaders and non profit groups. In 2015 we presented a strategic plan that would create of 1,500 new jobs and upwards of $500 million in new construction, while preserving the natural beauty of the city. The city elected to not pursue these opportunities.

I have decided to post some of the opportunities presented on this website. Perhaps it will encourage local residents to get involved in developing a resident based plan for this great city.
